Thomas Yee

Thomas Yee advises on strategic patent portfolio development and guides clients through complex intellectual property (IP) transactions and licensing agreements. He also excels in trademark portfolio procurement and provides skilled counsel on litigation matters, drawing on his broad understanding of technological landscapes and industry trends. Additionally, Tom serves as a trusted advisor to clients on corporate finance, structuring, and public company matters.

Tom represents clients ranging from individual inventors and startups to multinational corporations. He has played a key role in counseling numerous startup and medium-sized companies during critical stages of growth and development. Examples of Tom's startup clients include:

  • SentinelOne (cybersecurity): initial public offering (IPO) with $10 billion valuation.
  • Software company: publicly traded through special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) offering valued at $1.5 billion.
  • OneMedNet (digital health): SPAC offering valued at $317 million.
  • Vast (software): acquired by Vroom, a $1 billion-dollar e-commerce company.
  • Medical device company: acquired by global leader.

Tom has handled IP matters across numerous industries and technology areas, including medical devices, blockchain and financial services, automotive manufacturers, electronics, software, medical informatics, and biotech. His experience also includes warehousing logistics and components, religious institutions, sporting goods, cannabis, and baby products.

Prior to law school, Tom worked for American Express, where he was responsible for the reengineering initiative of the company's website. He also worked for a New York City-based venture capital firm, evaluating $1-2 million investments in early-stage startups.
