Thomas (Tommy) Tobin
Tommy focuses on complex litigation and regulatory compliance, with a particular emphasis on food, consumer goods, and cannabis industries.
Tommy Tobin regularly represents well-known consumer brands and other litigants in defending false advertising and labeling claims, providing regulatory counseling regarding product labeling, and coordinating internal investigations.
Tommy edited the American Bar Association’s Food Law: A Practical Guide, a resource book for practitioners to help them meet the unique needs of food and beverage clients across various areas of legal practice. He is active in the American Bar Association (ABA) as a member of the ABA’s House of Delegates. He is also a Trustee of the King County Bar Association.
Tommy has earned awards for his professionalism, writing, and teaching. The American Bar Association named Tommy one of the Top 40 Young Lawyers in 2022 in its “On the Rise” Awards. In 2023, Tommy earned the top Readers’ Choice Award as the most-read author on JD Supra for his contributions regarding class actions. In 2024, Tommy was named part-time instructor of the year at the University of Washington School of Law.
Tommy maintains a robust pro bono practice. A recipient of the firm’s J. Shan Mullin Annual Community Leadership and Service award, Tommy’s pro bono experience includes a federal jury trial in Arizona, where the trial team won pro bono attorneys of the year.
Prior to joining the firm, Tommy served as a law clerk to the Hon. Max O. Cogburn, Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina. In 2012, Tommy was awarded the George Mitchell Scholarship for travel to the island of Ireland. He holds degrees from Stanford University, Harvard Law School, and the Harvard Kennedy School.
