Taylor R. Russell
Taylor Russell represents clients in high-stakes commercial litigation in state and federal courts.
Her practice focuses on commercial disputes, including breach of contract, business torts, receivership litigation, trade secret misappropriation, partnership disputes, and unlawful detainer. She also litigates privacy matters for large technology clients under the Stored Communications Act (SCA) and has defended national employers against employment discrimination claims. Taylor is a versatile litigator who can competently tackle a variety of cases that come her way.
Taylor's thorough research and poignant written and oral advocacy have facilitated positive results for clients. In addition to these hallmark lawyering skills, Taylor is also committed to staying informed of cutting-edge developments in legal technology that may bolster the persuasiveness and effectiveness of her legal work. Most importantly, clients appreciate Taylor's exceptional client service. She is detail oriented, deadline driven, and responsive to client needs.
Taylor has worked with clients in a wide range of industries, including real estate, retail, wholesale, technology and internet services, and publishing. She has significant experience with pretrial litigation, including conducting factual investigation, managing complex e-discovery productions, and drafting discovery, discovery-related motions, and dispositive motions. Taylor has helped clients resolve their cases without the need for trial, including by settlement and mediation. Her recent successes include: securing confirmation of an arbitration award in federal court for a national wholesaler; drafting a winning fee motion that resulted in an order requiring the opposing party to pay the client's legal fees and costs incurred during the entire litigation; successfully arguing a motion to quash an invasive subpoena issued to a large technology client; winning a dismissal of claims asserted against a real estate client; and facilitating a tenant's surrender of the premises in an unlawful detainer matter.
In addition to her business litigation practice, Taylor is also committed to pro bono work. She recently helped a human rights organization secure sponsorship for a state assembly bill that would reduce modern-day human trafficking. Taylor has also represented death row inmates in a class-action litigation pending before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
