Stephen (Steve) C. Bishop

Steve is a leading patent lawyer in the field of portfolio analysis, management, and monetization.

Stephen Bishop helps clients of all sizes develop, analyze, and maintain their patent portfolios. For large-cap companies, he provides strategic advice on portfolio positioning, including comparative analysis of competitor portfolios, identification of patents in a portfolio for sale or other monetization, and selection and purchase of patents to fill portfolio gaps. In his counsel to start-ups and mid-cap companies, he helps identify, develop, and protect key intellectual property (IP) assets in a manner consistent with each client’s business goals. Steve is also well-versed in the creation of corporate IP programs. 

With clients spanning a range of software, semiconductor, and electrical technologies, Steve has particular experience in the semiconductor, internet, and telecommunications industries.

Prior to joining Perkins Coie, Steve spent a decade in in-house positions, including five years as AGC-IP at Amazon.com. While at Amazon, Steve led the group responsible for the company’s creation and management of the worldwide patent, trademark, and domain portfolio. In that role, he handled prelitigation dispute resolution and acquisition due diligence in all IP areas.
