Meeka Bondy serves as co-chair of the Film & TV industry group, co-chair of the Women in Media and Entertainment group, co-editor of the Age of Disruption blog, and senior counsel in the Technology Transactions & Privacy Law practice. A media industry veteran, she focuses her practice on media, entertainment, technology, and intellectual property law, helping clients navigate media rights and distribution models in the entertainment, gaming, sports, music, social media, digital media, software, e-commerce, and mobile industries.
Meeka structures, negotiates, and drafts a variety of complex commercial transactions involving the development, co-production, acquisition, licensing, distribution, and monetization of film, television, sports, music, video game, print, audio, and video content across multiple platforms, apps, devices, and marketplaces. She advises clients on the legal, contractual, regulatory, and market challenges presented by emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI); machine learning; cloud computing; non-fungible tokens (NFTs); interactive entertainment; digital replicas; synthetic media; targeted advertising; the internet; the metaverse; apps; and virtual, augmented, mixed, and immersive reality.
For more than 25 years, Meeka has been a trusted advisor to market leaders pioneering the future of entertainment. She brings a deep understanding of the windowing paradigms and licensing strategies favored by movie and television studios; television networks and programmers; cable, satellite, telecommunications, and digital multichannel video programming distributors (MVPD); and video streaming services, apps, and platforms. Meeka is highly versatile in all forms of traditional and digital distribution of film, television, and video content, including theatrical exhibition; linear television (e.g., pay, basic cable, and broadcast); on-demand television (e.g., SVOD, AVOD, TVOD, and PPV); OTT; TV Everywhere; home video (e.g., EST); FAST channels and services; connected TVs and streaming devices; and stand-alone and bundled streaming services, apps, and platforms.
Meeka is a founding board member of AIM and Future Now Media Foundation, a longtime WICT Network NY board member, and chair of Brooklyn Law School’s Women’s Leadership Circle. She is a frequently sought-after moderator, speaker, and thought leader on the future of entertainment, intellectual property, technology, AI, negotiation, and leadership, including at Digital Hollywood at CES, Game Developers Conference, and WICT’s Leadership Conference, and in Business Insider, The Hollywood Reporter, and Variety.
