Makenzi Galvan
Makenzi Galvan focuses her practice on intellectual property (IP) matters with an emphasis on patent litigation.
Prior to joining Perkins Coie, Makenzi served as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. Michael T. Liburdi and the Hon. James A. Teilborg, both of the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona. She gained extensive experience conducting legal research on both federal and state law, including complex commercial disputes, intellectual property infringement matters, social security appeals, and criminal trials. Makenzi also collaborated with peers to address court filings, ensuring lawsuits' efficient resolutions.
Prior to her clerkships, Makenzi worked at another leading law firm in San Francisco, where she represented clients in patent infringement actions and inter partes review proceedings before the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). Makenzi also has experience in patent preparation and prosecution in various technology areas.
Makenzi earned her J.D. from University of Colorado Law School. During law school, she served as a student attorney with the Entrepreneurial Law Clinic, a judicial extern with the Colorado State Supreme Court, and a notes and comments editor for the Environmental Law Review. She received her B.S. in chemistry from Northern Arizona University.
