Dr. Jason Francis' practice focuses on patent prosecution, intellectual property (IP) strategy, diligence, validity, and infringement analysis. Jason has experience in a variety of technology areas including electronics and semiconductors, optics, software, and medical devices.
Jason earned a Ph.D. in physics from Oregon State University, where his research focused on transparent conductors and solar absorber materials, and a B.S. in physics from West Virginia University. Before attending law school, Jason worked as a process development engineer at a leading semiconductor company, where he helped to develop cutting-edge semiconductor manufacturing processes, and at major U.S. financial institution, where he worked on financial modeling and portfolio forecasting.
Jason received his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. During law school, Jason was a member of the Samuelson Law, Technology, and Public Policy Clinic, where he worked on projects related to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), digital searches, and licensing for an international open-source hardware collaboration. Jason was a member of the editorial board of the Berkeley Technology Law Journal.
