David litigates complex commercial cases, primarily dealing with environmental litigation.
His experience includes litigating multiparty contamination cleanup cases, counseling clients involved in Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) response actions, suing on behalf of a city to ensure its future access to clean water, and conducting due diligence for an agricultural business looking to lease state lands. In addition to his environmental work, David regularly assists in product liability and business litigation matters
David maintains an active pro bono practice. He regularly volunteers at a local legal clinic, litigated a class action on behalf of pretrial detainees seeking adequate COVID-19 protections in prison, and assisted in developing a legal structure for domestic violence shelters that allows individuals to safely seek refuge with their animal companions.
While earning his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School, David volunteered as a student attorney in the Civil-Criminal Litigation Clinic. For this work, he was awarded the International Academy of Trial Lawyer's Award for outstanding courtroom advocacy. He also served as supervisor and research assistant for the Michigan Environmental Crimes Project, a comprehensive and empirical study of environmental criminal prosecutions in the United States.
