Colin advises clients ranging from large industry-leading companies to early-stage startups on developing their patent portfolios, including performing due diligence, landscape analysis, and valuations for sales and acquisitions.
Drawing from his strong engineering and technical background, Colin Fowler focuses on thoroughly understanding clients' technology in order to offer strategic patent advice to meet business goals.
A skilled patent attorney, Colin advises his clients, including financial services companies, manufacturers, and innovative technology companies, on matters concerning artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), bioinformatics tools, cybersecurity, blockchain and cryptography, cloud computing, virtual (VR), augmented (AR), and mixed realities (MR), video games, transistors, and nanoscale devices. Colin works with inventors to handle early-stage IP portfolio management and development including balancing international filings and coaching inventors on incomplete elements of their ideas to generate patentable matter.
Colin's practice extends to trademark prosecution as well. He coordinates and manages worldwide brand development and protection. Colin has also succeeded in difficult, acquired secondary meaning cases to obtain trademark protection for descriptive marks, argued opposition proceedings, and drafted consent agreements.
Along with Michael Glenn, Colin co-hosts the Perpetual Motion podcast. Perpetual Motion is an interview program focused on creativity, problem solving, and innovation.
