Caitlin Carey practice ranges from traditional estate planning to sophisticated wealth-transfer planning. She is adept at balancing the competing concerns of gift and estate tax issues, income tax issues, and California property tax issues under Proposition 13. Caitlin’s background in litigation enables her to anticipate and prevent family conflict through careful planning.
Caitlin represents clients in the negotiation and preparation of prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, often using a collaborative process in which the parties and their lawyers work together toward a mutually agreeable outcome. She also counsels clients on the best practices for preservation of separate property rights and interests both before and during marriage.
Caitlin’s clients include individuals and families of all types, including newlyweds, families concerned with planning for their young children, multigenerational families who wish to coordinate their wealth-transfer planning, and blended families where the parties wish to provide for each other while also protecting the interests of their respective children.
