Cecily Barclay and Matt Gray Co-Author 39th Edition of California Land Use & Planning Law Book Cited by State’s Supreme Court
SAN FRANCISCO (April 4, 2024)—Perkins Coie partners Cecily Barclay and Matt Gray have co-authored the 39th edition of California Land Use & Planning Law, which provides a definitive summary of the major legal provisions governing California's land use and planning laws.
The book has been cited by the California Supreme Court and numerous appellate courts as an authoritative source and is assigned at law schools across the state. Cecily is a land use and real estate partner in Perkins Coie's San Francisco office and Matt is the firmwide co-chair of the Land Development Industry Group.
"California's land use and planning laws continue to attract significant public and legal scrutiny amid the many challenges associated with planning for climate change, housing needs, and redevelopment of office and retail centers, amid growth in some but not all economic sectors of our state," said Cecily. "This most recent edition, with new analyses and insights will continue to be a beneficial and valuable tool to those seeking to better understand California's complex land use and planning law requirements."
Perkins Coie colleagues Marc Bruner, Marie Cooper, Julie Jones, Alan Murphy, Debbi Quick, Geoff Robinson and Barbara Schussman also significantly contributed to the updated 2024 edition.
