Caroline Mew’s strength as a litigator stems from the breadth of her experience at both the trial and appellate levels. A general civil litigator by training and experience with a nationwide practice, she breaks down disputes so that even the most complex and arcane issues can be readily understood by judges and juries. In every case, Caroline’s goal is to help her clients reach the best result for their business in the most efficient way possible—whether that means litigating in court or arbitration or working towards a reasonable settlement.
Caroline’s experience involves clients from diverse industries including consumer products and services, energy, healthcare, and higher education as well as a broad range of civil disputes including discrimination, breach of contract, defamation/product disparagement, misappropriation of trade secrets, and consumer protection claims. She also defends clients in government enforcement actions alleging violations of federal statutes and regulations and assists clients in evaluating and asserting challenges to federal regulatory action under the Administrative Procedure Act.
An experienced advisor on alternative dispute resolution, Caroline litigates the enforcement of arbitration agreements and has represented clients in domestic and international arbitration matters.
Caroline has particular practice depth counseling and advocating for companies that offer certification and licensing examinations and national standardized admission tests. Her work in this sector spans a variety of issues, including testing accommodations, test security, copyright and trademark infringement, and privacy. Caroline also has a background in college and university legal issues and is a longtime member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys.
