Perkins Coie Awarded the 2024 Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award

WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 17, 2024) - Perkins Coie is honored to have received the 2024 Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award from the National Capital Area Council (NCAC), Scouting America. The award recognizes organizations that have provided outstanding support for the development of Scouting opportunities for youth from rural or low-income urban backgrounds. 

“As an executive board member, urban scout parent and scout volunteer, the mission this Award supports is incredibly meaningful and important to me personally,” said Jamie Schafer, a Perkins Coie partner and recipient of the award. “This award highlights our firm’s unwavering commitment to our clients, our communities and each other.” 

Among other contributions that the firm's lawyers have made to Scouting, Jamie serves as a NCAC Scouting America Executive Board member for the Council Board. Perkins Coie partner Michael Huston is also representing the Scouts nationally with respect to federal appellate claims.
