William McCabe

Bill has been recognized as a leading patent litigator in U.S., European, and Asian venues.

William McCabe is a patent litigator with more than three decades of experience handling patent infringement and trade secret actions, licensing, re-examinations, and inter partes reviews. Bill has represented sophisticated U.S., European, and Asian companies in high-stakes patent litigation and counseling matters. These include a record-setting judgment of noninfringement, invalidity, and unenforceability against a defendant that had already collected more than $1.5 billion from over 1,000 companies.

Bill has represented clients in a breadth of industries, including telecommunications, digital cameras, optics, semiconductors, software, medical devices, energy, polymers, pharmaceuticals, chemical engineering, and electrochromics. He has handled high-stakes litigation involving code-division multiple access and Wi-Fi technologies, encrypted Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), and optical switches used in wavelength-division multiplexing for telecommunications networks.

Bill also has litigated matters involving automotive mirror products, bar code and machine vision technology, and arcade games. He earned his undergraduate degree in chemical engineering and began his career as a refinery startup engineer for UOP.
