Sam provides business-savvy intellectual property guidance to help companies reach the next level.

Sam Hong represents both emerging and established companies across a broad range of industries. He has counseled multiple startups in developing intellectual property (IP) strategies that target rapid portfolio growth while retaining cost efficiencies. For more established companies, Sam has helped companies strategically shape their IP portfolios, including identifying and leveraging existing assets as well as strategically developing new IP.

Sam focuses on providing day-to-day guidance to clients and serving as outside counsel to anticipate and prevent potential problems. He helps clients on topics such as open-source software, product roadmaps, competitive analysis data, and enforcement of IP rights. Sam also works with bioinformatics clients on IP matters, privacy, and government regulatory compliance.

Sam has been fortunate to work with a number of different technologies. For hardware technologies, Sam has worked with robotics, semiconductor wafer and packaging; memory devices; system-on-chip; system-in-package; consumer devices; telecommunication systems; and medical devices. For software, Sam has worked with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, robotics control, bioinformatics, operating systems, user interfaces, signal processing, web-based applications, mobile unit applications, network management, and more.

Prior to attending law school, Sam was a senior electronics engineer at Lockheed Martin for over nine years.
