Perkins Coie Named Among 2019 “Companies That Care” by PEOPLE Magazine
SEATTLE (July 24, 2019)—Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that it has been named one of the 2019 "Companies That Care" by PEOPLE magazine. The 2019 list recognizes the Top 50 U.S. companies that have succeeded in business while also demonstrating "outstanding respect, care and concern for their employees, their communities and the environment."
PEOPLE magazine teamed up with Great Place to Work®—an employment consulting firm—to create the list, which is based on surveys of over 4.5 million employees on how their workplaces have made a difference in their lives and the communities where they live. The list also reflects other key factors including each organization's employee benefits, as well as local community and philanthropic support.
"Perkins Coie has a long history of supporting the local communities where we work and especially in providing pro bono counsel to people and organizations urgently in need of legal services who are unable to afford such representation," said staffer. "Giving back to our communities is a core focus for the firm and our attorneys, and we're pleased that PEOPLE magazine has recognized our ongoing efforts."
Perkins Coie's commitment to providing pro bono counsel includes giving associates full billable-hour credit for their work on pro bono matters. Firm attorneys donate tens of thousands of hours of pro bono legal services annually to provide critical legal representation to individuals and nonprofit organizations across the country.
Perkins Coie has long been recognized for excellence in the legal industry and for fostering a positive work culture—most notably by being named among Fortune's 100 Best Companies to Work For® for 17 consecutive years. The firm was also recognized as a Top 10 Firm for Gender Equity by Yale Law Women (YLW) in its 2019 Top Ten Firms for Gender Equity and Family Friendliness Report. Perkins Coie additionally earned the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's top rating of 100% in the Corporate Equality Index, a national benchmarking survey on corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ workplace equality.
