Coalition for Cannabis Scheduling Reform Report
Marijuana is classified as a schedule I controlled substance under existing federal law. This classification means that marijuana is considered to have no accepted medical use, a high potential for abuse, and no accepted safety standards even under medical supervision. The President of the United States has expressed disagreement with this classification and has offered—through expert scientific and medical review—a clear path forward to address the nation's "failed approach to marijuana."
As the President noted, "It's time that we right these wrongs."
